A six to eight-week art residency and exhibition in France will be awarded to the selected artist.
Lee Ufan Arles and Maison Guerlain have announced the prestigious "Art & Environment Prize" for 2025. This unique opportunity, encompassing a residency period in Arles, France, and a solo exhibition, invites artists from around the world to create works with philosophical depth and a responsible approach towards nature and the environment. The prize aims to support artists who can establish conceptual, semantic, and aesthetic links between their work and that of Lee Ufan.
This award, now in its third edition, provides an exceptional opportunity for artists to develop their artistic projects in an inspiring environment and present them to the public.
Why is the "Art & Environment Prize" by Lee Ufan Arles and Guerlain a Special Opportunity?
Comprehensive Art Residency: The prize winner will benefit from a six to eight-week support program in early 2026, including a production space (studio) and accommodation in the heart of the Arles region in France. This arrangement allows for full concentration on artistic creation.
Solo Exhibition: Following the residency period, the artist's works will be showcased in a summer exhibition at one of the prestigious Lee Ufan Arles venues.
Mentorship and Professional Development: A mentor from the Lee Ufan Arles team will accompany the winner throughout the residency, arranging meetings with international and local artists, curators, and art professionals, significantly contributing to professional growth and development.
Inspiring Theme: The focus on "Art & Environment" offers artists an opportunity to address crucial contemporary issues and initiate new dialogues with nature.
Support from Esteemed Institutions: This prize is organized in collaboration with two highly respected institutions, Lee Ufan Arles and Maison Guerlain, ensuring its international prestige and reach.
Who Can Apply?
This prize is open to all artists, regardless of artistic practice, age, or academic qualifications, and is open to international artists.
Selection Criteria:
Artistic CV: Applicants must submit a CV detailing their artistic career. The artist's portfolio must include at least one solo exhibition and one or more group exhibitions.
Sincerity and Originality of the Project: The sincerity, relevance, and originality of the proposed project, as well as its coherence with the issues and themes supported by the Prize (art, environment, modernity, and nature), are crucial.
Residency Project Plan: Submission of a comprehensive plan for the residency period, including the theme and the expected outcome of the artistic project.
The Jury:
The prize jury will be chaired by Lee Ufan himself, and comprised of members from both entities (Lee Ufan Arles and Guerlain), along with invited personalities.
Key Dates and Deadlines:
July 30, 2025: Final deadline for application submission.
Mid-September 2025: Selection of finalist artists.
Early October 2025: Interview sessions with finalists.
Week of October 24, 2025: Announcement of the Art & Environment Prize winner during Paris +.
Early 2026: Commencement of the residency period for the winner.
